GainOs: The Open Source Game Where Only One Can Be King

Imagine booting into an operating system where you're not just a user—you're a player in an underground digital war. Welcome to GainOs, an open-source operating system that’s not just about productivity or development—it's a game. And in this game, there's only one title that matters: King.

🚀 What Is GainOs?

GainOs is an open-source operating system built for both everyday use and an entirely new kind of experience—interactive ethical hacking as a game. When you boot GainOs, you’re greeted with two options:

Run Offline: This is a powerful, advanced Linux environment for general use.
Run Online: This is where the game begins.

In Online Mode, you're dropped into a real-time multiplayer hacking simulation. You can choose to stay anonymous or register on our upcoming platform at gainos.org (coming soon). Once registered, you'll receive a random username and password. These credentials are your key to enter the battlefield.

🕹️ The Game: Capture and Maintain the Server

Once logged in, you’re connected to the GainOs Game Server—a live, intentionally vulnerable Linux system. Your mission? Gain access to it using your programming, scripting, and reverse engineering skills. If you succeed, congratulations—you are now the King.

But it doesn’t stop there.

As King, your new objective is to maintain control of the server. Others will try to take your crown. They’ll use everything they know to breach your defenses and boot you out. If they succeed, they become the new King.

Here’s the twist:
🔒 No cryptography or passwords allowed.
💣 No deleting system files.
💬 Chat with others—ally, deceive, or learn.

Everything you do on the game server is logged (for transparency), but your identity and conversations are not. This creates a raw, unfiltered environment to test your skills without the limits of simulation-based learning.

⚠️ Why No Encryption?

Simple: We believe real-world programming and system-level knowledge are more powerful than hiding behind encryption. Anyone can set a password. But can you secure a system without one?

That’s the challenge. That’s what makes you King.
